Ford’s share price has been falling since November, after the company reported a fourth consecutive quarterly loss, and analysts believe the US automaker’s outlook for the year is bleak.
Ford shares fell 5% on Friday, hitting their lowest level in almost two months, and the stock has fallen as much as 25% over the past year.
Ford’s stock was last up about 4% on Monday.
Analysts said the decline in the company’s stock is due to the fact that the company is still struggling to make a profit.
“If you look at the past four quarters, it has been more or less stagnant, but there has been some positive signs,” said Brian Johnson, chief executive of Bernstein Research.
“But the reality is, Ford’s revenue has fallen to $1.2bn from $3.7bn in the previous quarter, which is a loss of $3bn over the same period.”
The US automaking giant is one of the world’s largest automakers, and it makes cars and trucks for many of the biggest brands in the world.
But with the company reporting a $1bn profit in the fourth quarter, analysts believe Ford’s stock could be in for a big dip in the near future.
“The stock is going to fall and fall, and we are not going to be able to keep it up,” Mr Johnson said.
Ford, the second-largest car maker after General Motors, is one the worlds largest car manufacturers.
It makes cars for the likes of BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi and Porsche.
Ford is also a major player in the global auto industry.
Its products have helped to shape the image of the United States for decades.
The company has become a global icon for cars and cars have become the symbol of the US.
But analysts believe it is going in the wrong direction.
“There is no longer any hope for the company,” said Robert O’Rourke, senior market analyst at Gartner.
“Ford’s business model is now dependent on selling more of the old-fashioned, American-centric models that have become its signature, but these have not been doing well.”
Ford’s share prices have been falling over the last year, following a drop of about 15% in 2016.
Ford says its stock price has fallen by about 25% in the past 12 months.
