MSNBC host Chris Hayes and the co-hosts of “The Rachel Maddow Show” were discussing the new movie of “Chocolatier” on Monday.
Hayes said he was “stunned” by the fact that the movie “chose” the book of scripture over the movie’s depiction of Jesus.
When asked if he was surprised by the choice, Hayes said “yes” and “I am.
Because I think that there are certain things that we don’t know, and those things are the things that make us Christians.”
Hayes also said that “the film has not only done a great job of presenting a clear historical story but it has also managed to be a film that is a little bit more than just a movie about Jesus.
It has been a film about a time in history where there was a little more of a Christian movement.”
Hayes said that there is “a huge amount of work that needs to be done” to find out “how much of this is a book and how much of it is a movie.”
He said “this is a really important film that has been overlooked because of its focus on a small number of stories and the fact it is an historical film.
It is not about Jesus.”
